W. Bruce Stewart, MA, CAPHC
President and Senior Consultant

In offering his services as a cultural resource management consultant, Bruce Stewart combines his formal training in archaeology - a Bachelor's Degree (Honours) from the University of Calgary and a Master's Degree from Wilfrid Laurier University - with over twenty-four years of practical experience in cultural resource management and a strong personal commitment to the investigation, interpretation and management of cultural heritage.

In October 1998, Bruce incorporated Cultural Resource Management Group Limited, an archaeological consulting and management firm based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Utilizing a national base of associates and contract staff, CRM Group has undertaken a series of projects for public and private sector clients in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Ontario.

Projects include the following:


As Senior Archaeologist and head of Dillon Consulting Limited's cultural resource management group from 1990 until 1998, Bruce managed archaeological and built heritage projects for the firm nation wide. While with Dillon, he undertook the following projects:

Prior to joining Dillon, Bruce spent ten years doing archaeology in Kingston, Ontario, including a seven year term as Executive Director of the Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation. While with the Foundation, he managed two major archaeological master plan studies, oversaw development of the Kingston Archaeological Centre, organized museum displays, public events and conferences, as well as directing site specific investigations at the seventeenth through nineteenth century site of Fort Frontenac.
